In the car one morning we told Maddy that when we are in the car and can't reach her to give her a hug she can hug herself. So when she noticed that I got a little upset in the car today she said "hug yourself mamma". Then Tim asked her what she would do if she wanted a hug, but we weren't able to give her one, "I would go get lambda" she said. So cute!
Also she kept telling Tim that he is the "bestest pappa in whode wide world" and I am "the most beauitful mamma in the whode wide world". Such a cutie.
We had fun at gymnastics today, ran into another mom and dad with kids the same age. Maddy really loves that class.

I have lots of cute pictures to post of Maddy and Sam:
Today Tim's parents came over to visit in the morning. It was nice and we all colored together for about an hour. Then we went to Centennial Lakes where Maddy likes to go "Swinging by the water" and we walked around for a while. It is so warm out and although it's nice I am really ready for jeans and sweaters instead of shorts.
Sam is getting up on all fours and likes making a triangle with his body, he's never still for a minute so we have to be really careful with what we leave on the floor. Maddy has been very good about cleaning up her stuff. He is also drinking with a sippy cup. And he loves food. All vegetables apparently taste good to him: carrots, green beans, sweet potatoes.
One of my favorite things to do with Maddy is have long conversations about whatever she wants to talk about. She has an excellent memory and says such wonderfully funny things all the time. She has a good vocabulary so our conversations are never lacking. Her cutest phrases are "Best pappa in the whole wide world" and "I love you this much" holding her arms straight out.

I brought Maddy in for her three year appointment the other day. Things went really well and Dr. Tate said Maddy is in perfect health. At three she is 38.5" tall (83rd percentile) and weighs 34lbs (80th percentile). They also start measuring their BMI, kind of odd. Maddy really liked Dr. Tate, completely different than when she was 2. It probably helped that we have brought her with us when we've brought Sam in.
We have also gone to three gymnastic classes and Maddy still loves it. They are getting more and more advanced and she does well, but when the other kids wander off she tends to do the same.
Sam is the cutest baby in the world. Giggling and jumping and dancing. He'll be walking before we know it. He has been doing his army crawl for a while, but now he's starting to get up on all fours.
Busy weekend. I will post pictures soon. I have lots.

It's been a long and not at all relaxing weekend. I am absolutely not ready to go back to work tomorrow, but I guess that's life with a husband and 2 busy kids.
Friday night Tim and I were going to watch a movie, but we got caught up in some 9/11 footage. It was disturbing to see so we didn't last that long. We did go to bed early though because we knew we had an early morning coming. Sam woke up at 4:30 and was very hungry. Tim fed him and I kept on sleeping for a little bit longer. By 6 we were all up though. I went for a quick run and then at 7:30 Bob Gibson picked Tim up for the drive up to Zimmerman to help Mike and Molly with cutting up some trees.
Sam, Maddy and I hung out at home. While Sam napped Maddy and I colored a lot. I really like coloring, but Maddy kept wanting to color on the same page as me and that didn't work out so well. We also went to Target and looked around, had a good lunch and played outside for a while. After a short nap for both kids I packed them up and drove up to Zimmerman where Maddy watched a movie and I chatted with Molly for a few hours. They made a great dinner, but the drive home with a tired Tim and crabby Maddy wasn't very fun.
Today we were heading to church to meet with a priest who could potentially baptize Sam. This is at Tim's parents church in Minneapolis. The service was long and I went outside with Sam for a while. Tim said Maddy was a hand-full, but she was actually pretty quiet through the whole service. I brought her to the bathroom twice and she was very excited because "I can talk in here, right mamma?". After the service we met a lot of different people and everyone just loved Maddy. They all told her what a pretty dress and pretty face she had. She loved it of course and she loved the fruit and juice, but was done sitting still so while they had someone talk about something (ask Tim, he was the one who listened to the thing) I brought her outside to play. The priest finally did talk to us for about 2 minutes and gave us a book on baptism. I am not feeling 100% about this since the priest takes it pretty seriously and at this time in our life I do not feel that church is a priority. Sundays are my favorite time to drink coffee and relax and I know it will always feel like a struggle. Tim can go though.
We went to Tim's parents for lunch and that was nice, but then Maddy wouldn't nap so we went to Old Navy and returned some items and now I'm just exhausted and there won't be any running happening tonight. I actually think I'm just going to head to bed or I will start off the week on a bad note as well.
Long post with no pictures, but I didn't have the energy to take any this weekend.

Quiet Labor day weekend...we didn't have many plans, just enjoying the lovely weather. I've already forgotten what we did Saturday and Sunday. Monday though we were going to the Teddy Bear Park again, it's one of Maddy's favorite parks. I asked my friend Sarah if she wanted to bring her daughter and husband and Tim asked his parents and Patti to bring the kids. Everyone agreed and we met around 9:30 (we were a little late after a crabby kid morning). The park was getting busy already, but we staked out a spot in the shade for our strollers. Sarah and I chatted with Tim's mom and watched Sam while the boys ran after the kids. A nice time was had by all. We had lunch at yet another park overlooking the river. Next time we'll actually find a spot by the river though.
A tired and happy family came home. I took a walk to rent a movie and Tim and I had an interesting time watching it during Maddy's nap. It would have been perfect if we had been able to time Sam's nap with Maddy's, but no such luck. He was crabby even when we held him and jumped with him. This week will have gymnastics, my first board meeting for the fall (in Stillwater of all places!) and Saturday a trip up to Molly's house (if it doesn't rain). I also need to get some runs in.

Tuesday was Maddy's first gymnastics class and it was a big success! The class I picked was for 3- and 4-year-olds and all parents had to sit in the parent area to watch. Several times I had tears in my eyes, I was so proud of my little girl. I couldn't hear anything, but I could tell that she was listening to instructions and following along so well. It was a really good class, the right amount of new things and only 50 minutes which seemed perfect. Maddy really, really liked it.
As a treat after we went to McDonald's where she had a whole hamburger and dipped her apples in ketchup. It was a nice mother-daughter evening.
The rest of the week has been pretty quiet, but one thing that has kind of stressed me out this week is planning a kräftskiva (crayfish party) for 30 Swedish women. I was supposed to have someone to plan with, but she wasn't able to attend. I did get help from my good friends, but it was still a lot to think of. It turned out great though. Thursday night we had the party at Eva's house in Plymouth. After everyone settled down to eat I was finally able to relax and sit down with my friends Linda (who has a son Miles 15 months) and Lisa (who has a son Emil 9 month). We chatted about our kids, husbands and life in general all evening while enjoying lots of food and pie!
This weekend we are staying close to home. Tim had to go to a funeral for his cousin today and I stayed home with the kids. Tomorrow and Monday (labor day) we'll probably find some fun things to do.
